Entry # 23: Going away party at McFadden's

Being a member of the Mason community, I am well aware of the limited going out options in Fairfax, VA.

Auld Shabeen? -- Been there. (Many times)

(Insert Greek Letters) House? -- Done That.

There are certainly a few more options, but none quite as popular as these two. Besides, when you live on campus it's just too easy to get on the shuttle to Main St. or grab a ride to your friends' frat house. Fair enough.

Now that I've graduated, I feel that I should explore my options (As I've been doing). Especially since I've been moonlighting as a Fairfax residence on the weekends. So last week my honorary roommate and I took the metro to Foggy Bottom (I know, I know...Georgetown again.) to go to our friend's going away party.

We went to McFadden's...and I must say this place combined everything good about Aulds' and a frat party!

1. Nice "Irish" pub feel with basement level dancing. (BUT no smoking!)
2. A DJ spinning hits. (Except somehow better)
3. There are people who work there who have the sole job function of keeping guests entertained. (Not in a sketchy way...obviously)
4. Cheap cover charge ($5.00)
5. Free Bevs.

We consumed free drinks, we danced the night away (no pesky cover band...), we didn't get stranded, we made new friends...except for sending our friend away we had a fantastic night thanks to the amazing people at McFadden's.

To top it off...when I bought one drink I got THREE free passes to get in without paying a cover...so really the drink paid for itself, and then some.

I will definitely be back!
